  • What is your most epic surfing moment? My youth brings about many epic surfing moments! Not that I am that old now, however I think when I was 17 this one particular day stood out like skittles on a white backdrop. Filled with astonishingly loud “yew’s” after this storm had rolled on by, two other friends and myself were rather shell shocked to see such perfection.  I think everyone froths on their own home break when you score it amazing. Growing up in suffolk park, surrounded with a culture of grommets out there every morning and afternoon before school was my paradise. Yet, this perfect left from a wintery wisp of offshore after a bonkers lightning storm, two of my best friends out and no other to be seen, was with out a doubt an epic surfing moment.
  • Favourite wave/ Surf town? I have so many, but I would have to say my favourite wave when it is good or terrible would be the Pass, haha. Despite the dodging and weaving of the masses, a day when its firing and all of your friends are out there laughing and calling party waves on bomb sets, its hard not to giggle and enjoy the sport for what it is. Favourite surfing town that opens my heart up to a community feeling like I have at home would be Tofino in BC. Cold water kids there are freakishly good at riding energy lines, and have such level heads and open minds.
  • Favourite surfing movie?
  • Haha as a kid I loved Kelly Slater in Black and White on a video cassette. I ended up cooking it where my VCR chewed it up as I stop/ rewound (fastest way) it to see this back hand foam climb over and over. After that I resorted to still on VCR :(.
  • Funniest outfit you’ve stood on a plank with? I dont know if its the funniest, however I love surfing nude. It’s definitely amazing when its crowded in the bay or the Wreck, and you just strip off and put your board shorts in your vest, paddle out and just scope a bomb set. The necessity of punching soul arch, high lines and yodelling comes as a commodity when theres to much ego amongst one break. You would be surprised how much your birthday suit will get you waves.
  • Best rider? There are so many phenomenal surfers that I grown up up with in Byron Bay. Best rider award however goes to the Browne Brothers, attached at the hip they are talented. Rookie Beeyatch http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=igTKWthBAL8 and Rafael Brown have such a unique style, part of the Vouch surfing club established by Evan. Famous for their Ford Capri convertible, seven jet-ski’s, and Honda Spacey Scooter, these brothers are high rollers in the surfing community.

About me
  • Favorite resort? Fernie Alpine Resort all the way!
  • Epic? My most unforgettable run was at Island Lake Cat-Skiing. I remember standing on top of the highest mountain looking out onto all of the Lizard Range wondering how I got so lucky to be right there at the moment about to drop into the most insane run of my life in knee deep pow. I’ll never forget the feeling of that moment!
  • Favourite après ski drink? Pink of Kokanee
  • Favourite apres ski song? Anything we can sing along too!
  • Baggy or skinny? Baggy
  • Most stylish move? Jeremy Jones being able to ride ridiculously vertical spine walls in the Himalayas. How he is able to get an edge and ride those line out is beyond comprehension!
  • Movie? My favourite snowboarding movie is actual a trilogy. It’s Jeremy Jones’ Deeper, Further, Higher series. Simply mind-blowing! I love that he’s bringing split boarding and human-powered adventure into the spot light. Mix that with his insane amount of courage and his determination to ride in the most remote places in the world and you’ve got the perfect ingredients for the best snowboarding moves ever!

  • Favourite resort :  Fernie BC Canada
  • What’s your most unforgettable/epic run/mountain? ne that comes to mind was a blue bird day in 07 in Fernie after a 40cm dump overnight. Hundreds of people lined up waiting for the rope to drop and Currie bowl to open. It was a very festive atmosphere and it was nice to shred with so many people on a high. (maybe not some peoples idea of a great run but it was a blast and I still remember it vividly.)
  • Favourite snowboarding movie: The art of flight is hard to beat
  • Favourite apres ski drink: really cold beer
  • Favourite apres-ski song: ride the storm by carl kennedy vs roachford
  • Most stylish trick? I much prefer to watch big mountain lines than tricks so ill say a big cliff drop is always a winner for me.
